The hot dog kid... he's um... "Big-boned" or "biscuitous" (if you get that reference, awesome) I think it works for him though. Ah, obesity in America... thanks to fructose I'm thin! :D
Random thought on the hot dog kid. What if his shirt had a smiley face on it but whenever he had an unhappy face so did his shirt? Like it was a smiley version of him? IDK :?
Okay I have an improved character pose of Dee. No, it's not full body yet, I will make it one when it's almost perfect. One step at a time, no? ;) Well, here it is!

Well, having gotten my life back in order after my hard drive mishap and birthday/relatives stuffs happening. I finally decided to get on this thing already! Well here's part 1. I know I've got more to do, but I was aching to put something up. Since the famous design on his shirt is so complex and he only makes a cameo (I think) I did without it for animation's sake. If you'd like, I can return him to his former "my shirt is a metaphor for how bad I"m going to mess you up" glory. You can see I sketched the design in the corner (although replacing the dragon with the phoenix, that was just an idea I had). Without the design he's not as colorful, but it really makes him a lot easier to do. I also replaced his chain with a simpler one. Again, I can insert it, but I figured it'd be easier to animate.

That design's complex? No! :o I agree with you in the whole complexity and animation issue. I myself toned down the detail in Dee's tattoos to make it easier to draw/animate. Not to be a jerk though... we might need that design because, as you said it is somewhat famous. Not my call though and I personally think it's a great image by itself :D (there's no way Ameera's a hopeful optimist! It's just not possible! And I bet she never uses sarcasm! Or lamp-shading for that matter! ) I find that once you draw an overly complex image once you can easily copy and paste it for animation. yes, I cheat... For my original character sheets of Dee for example (they suck, I know. I AM REDOING THEM!) I literally only drew her tat once and the copied, pasted, rotated to fit in the position I needed. if we have to put the tiger dragon/phoenix thing in his design I understand, as with my Dee designs, that for the final copies we would have to redraw some but I'm just saying once is usual enough to suffice then tweak it a little that's how I animate anyway... :?

Okay, here's the turnaround. Not happy with the frontal view (just look how many times I erased the face...and it's still not quite how I'd like it. It's like he's Wolverine mixed with Admiral Zhao or something). Probably should have messed with the levels in Photoshop. Easy to fix. Umm....also it's 1:24am and I didn't notice and I've got work in the morning. Guess that explains why I couldn't draw his face right. I most certainly can't draw the tiger/dragon now. Well....good night then!

Thanks. Don't be though, I went to art school. Had entire classes that dealt with character turnarounds. I do mostly 3d work though, which is why my 2d work isn't as good as Leeness or pretty much anybody who draws on a regular basis. :P

When you ask if I did these by hand....does that mean your drawings were done with a mouse? If so.......I'm incredibly impressed! That's amazing! I love her face too (and that hand! How long did it take you to do that?)

Oh yes, about the shirt design. If I have time I might draw it separately, but I've got a lot of stuff to do so I'm gonna wait for a few more people to chime in about the issue. However, since it was mentioned using the same design and skewing it with the perspective for any side shots as a quick way to deal with the animation issue, I was wondering then if I should have the design continue on to the back or not? It would make sense if it did, but it would also ruin the perspective trick. Sometimes you see shirts that have designs that only go to the seams on the side, so I dunno.

Edit:

Finally, a few expressions. The bottom one is what I pictured him looking like as he's singing some of his part in August Day, counting his money thinking about the chumps he gets to rip off every day. That sorta thing.

No, I am not so awesome that I can draw with a mouse... I use a tablet. I meant like... with an actual pencil... I tend to freak out when I use paper saying things like, "Ah! I need to hit undo!"

Art school, huh? I'm... a... teenage girl who just sorta picked up a pencil one day and said... "Ooh! It makes a line!"

The hand? It's evil! Look at my other posts of Dee and you will notice how it evolved. For a literal example using evolution, her left hand just got a thumb... yeah... I forgot a bout that  But, now she has a thumb... which is good for one who is evolving.

Picked up a pencil and discovered it was magic? PERFECT! You will be a master one day. Keep drawing! Draw what you love. Draw from reference. Draw what you love. Draw from life. Draw something you've never done before. Draw what you love some more. The earlier the better! I've seen many a folk on this forum improve their skills immensely just by being on this project and doing work. I am envious of them O_O. I should have drawn way more in high school (saying that made me feel old...).

I do the same thing though actually. I freak out with paper. The only reason I'm not using it now is because I've found photoshop lags horribly if I try to draw with it....and most of the time it refuses to acknowledge my tablet's pressure. Bleh. Still I suppose it's for the best, when I use photoshop I get too nitpicky trying to clean up my wobbly lines. Double bleh.

Hm... I should draw more when I get IN high-school... saying that made me feel young... (I'm a freshmen when summer ends!) Anyway, thanks for the tips! :D

Okay, mainly to get back on topic and for the sake of improvement, what do you think I should change in Dee? Anyone? Please? :?:

Also, I don't use Photoshop, I use GIMP 2.0 it's free if you want to try it ;)

Another thing, EsabelleRyngin. The list of characters that we need are on the first post. Just claim 'em if you want and it will be oh, so helpful! :)
